Otoro Tuna with crispy rice surprised us. Love the duck breast so much! Stopped for my bestie's birthday, definitely will come back.

While Chicago is a top tier food city, nearly every fancy restaurant is closed for lunch. Thankfully, there's Obelix. Humboldt Fog Sandwich - 5/5. I'd be sad if I never had this again. Sweet fig jam, rich goat cheese, acid from pickled fennel and a touch of bitterness from arugula. Arguably, the best sandwich of my life. Onion Soup - 4/5. A respectable version of the French classic. Heaping cheese, good ratio of croutons, and tasty stock. Carrots - 3.5/5. Very solid, I'd be on the fence about getting this again. Heavily spiced without being spicy and good pop from fresh pomegranate. More rich and larger in portion than I was expecting. Frites - 3/5. Fine, forgettable french fries. Drinks - 4/5. My wife got the Yuzu French 75 and I got the non-alcoholic Anna's Ananas. Both were balanced and refreshing.

French restaurant. Delicious! They serve Foie Gras Canele on weekends only. The restaurant is open with cool vibe.

We tried brunch for the first time and it didn't disappoint (we had previously eaten lunch and dinner here). The pastries were outrageously good and the foie-man (ramen with foie gras) was absolutely amazing. Great service as always. Highly recommended for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner!

Came here for dinner to celebrate and very glad we did. We got the Beef Wellington, oysters, macaron au foie gras, foie gras and crispy rice, "the Obelix dog", some drinks, and dessert. All was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the elongated service due to the extra time it takes for the Beef Wellington (50 minutes). This made my birthday feel quite special. Service was thoughtful and timely. The interior is warm and inviting in that French upscale dining sort of way: moody lighting, tile floors, white curtains in the windows. I highly recommend the beef wellington. The flavors were rich, the pastry extremely flaky, and the beef cooked to what seemed like a medium rare. Definitely consider the macaron au foie gras which was delicious and unique. The canele and the choux pastry desserts we had were both incredible (I don't remember what they were called).

Was in Chicago for a work trip and decided to roll up to Obelix on a Monday for a stellar start to the week. The dining room was packed throughout the evening, but the bar had plenty of seating (bar at around 8 pm, when tables turned over and folks arriving early got a pre-dinner drink). I opted to start with a martini, which was delicious! Pairing with the martini, I got: - Tete De Cochon: Amazing! It's like a build your own wrap and super flavorful. Would order again. - Foie Gras and Crispy Rice: a fun small bite, but honestly not something particularly memorable. I would skip it next time. - Frites: every restaurant will tell you their fries are good, but these fries are damn good. So crispy, perfectly seasoned, and a massive portion that I still almost managed to finish anyways! The martini was so good, I also opted for a second drink which was just as good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is fun. Special shoutout to the bartender John who was really friendly and knew his stuff both on food recommendations as well as fantastic drinks! This is a place definitely worth going (multiple times)!

We visited Obelix for brunch, and overall, it was a fantastic experience! The service was truly excellent--attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Unfortunately, they were out of several of their pastry items, which was a bit disappointing since I'd heard great things. But that was easily made up for by the incredible steak sandwich, which was the highlight of our meal! The flavors were on point, and the sandwich was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Obelix is modern and chic yet inviting, with a stylish French flair that adds to the dining experience. The decor blends contemporary elegance with subtle rustic touches, creating a warm and sophisticated vibe. The lighting is just right--soft enough to be cozy but bright enough to see your food and enjoy the presentation. It's the kind of place that feels trendy but comfortable, perfect for a casual brunch. Would love to come back to try the pastries next time. I'd highly recommend the steak sandwich if you go for brunch.

TLDR: One of the best--if not The Best--French restaurants in the city. Yet another solid night at Obelix!! There's really nothing that Obelix doesn't do well. From the duck confit in the Lyonnaise Salade to the Tete de Cochon and Escargots, they've got the classic French dishes that you had in Paris and have been dreaming about since! This time around, we had the Beef Wellington after getting several smaller dishes. I know, a Welly at a French restaurant? I'm personally more of a Ribeye girl than a fillet but it was still fucking solid. The puff pastry really elevated the fillet along with the lovely sauce au poivre! Don't snooze on the Foie Gras & Crispy Rice bc THAT is a true bite of heaven. If you've had a rough week, treat yourself to it. You won't regret it. FYI, their brunch is also SOLID. It's a taste of the grand dinner menu for a slightly more affordable price!
